First of all, Happy Cinco De Mayo! Today is a very special day for me and my husband -it marks our 5th wedding anniversary. I wasn’t a blogger back in 2012, so I didn’t have a chance to share some of my wedding photos and behind the scenes looks. We were married at the beautiful Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Chatham, MA. Our ceremony took place on a lovely grassy knoll overlooking the sparkling blue ocean. Keep reading for the inspiration behind my elegant, nautical themed, beachfront wedding.

Our engagement lasted 2 years , however, I almost immediately started looking for dresses. I looked locally at a bridal boutique called ‘Dressed to Nines’ in Morristown, NJ. I was just beginning my search and must have tried on 20 dresses. The owner pulled a private label gown from the racks and asked to take a chance an try it on. I was looking for a lace, A-line silhouette…and this dress was a mermaid fit with ruffles. Much to my surprise, it fit like a dream and I could tell it was the one (based on my mom and sisters’ tears in the dressing room). It was a perfect representation of me – business on top and party on the bottom. Looking back, although I loved my dress- I would have enjoyed going to Kleinfeld’s New York and some of the other bigger bridal boutiques-just for the experience! Also, being in the fashion industry now, I have some connections to both gown and bridal gown designers such as Monique Lhuillier.

I always knew that I wanted to have a beachfront wedding. The beach is my happy place and I am most at peace near the water. My husband and I met at Bucknell University and initially, we talked about getting married on campus. But, Cape Cod held special memories for us and when my aunt introduced us to the luxurious Wequassett Resort and Golf Club- we fell in love with it’s beauty and amazing customer service.
